We began the evening with a walk around the location including the underground tunnels.
As we walked around the alleys some investigators heard footsteps behind the group and while in the tunnels we had good K2 activity as soon as we entered with the K2s lighting to red on a few occasions. Investigators also smelt a sweet smell and straight after hearing a voice one investigator felt a sharp pain in their hip White lights were seen, which have been seen in the tunnels on previous investigations.
Tunnels Left Hand Side
One group of investigators decided to start in the tunnels and choose the left side of the tunnel. They started by Asking Out and heard footsteps around them and clicks. Investigators then tried Table Tipping and had some movement of the table and also picked up on a butcher who used to work there, and 1920’s music and the smell of cigarettes. A black shadow was also seen near the table.
One investigator had his hand hit twice, had a metallic taste in his mouth and felt light headed. The group then tried glass divination and picked up on a spirit named John who has communicated with us on previous occasions. Shadows were seen moving in and out of the doorway and the table tipped and spun round a few times, it also tipped in response to yes and no questions.
The spirit communicated that he did not like a particular investigator and said he had scratched him and once out of the tunnels the investigator felt his arm stinging and when he checked it there was a red scratch. This has also happened on a previous investigation.
Another group of investigators went to the alleys at the far end of the market and began by asking out, footsteps were heard nearby we also tried table tipping and glass divination but the energy was very weak so we decided to move up to the tunnels.
Tunnels Right Hand Side
We began asking out in the tunnels and one group of investigators had reaction on their dowsing rods and crystal pendulum.
We played war time music to try to get a response as the tunnels were used as an air-raid shelter during the 2nd World War, but this particular spirit let us know that they did not like the music we were playing by swinging the pendulum strongly.
Investigators picked up on a young teenage boy and a female spirit who was born in the 1900’s she was in her 20’s and had worked in the market, and very soon after this a women’s face was seen behind one of the investigators.
Another group of investigators tried a Ouija table which is a table we have adapted to use as a Ouija Board as some spirits seem to prefer to communicate this way instead of a traditional Ouija Board. The spirit told us that there were 6 of us in the tunnels which was correct and that her name was Margaret and she spelt out Y R U here (Why are you here) and LOL in text speak. Just after this a black shadow was seen moving away from the group. We then decided to have a short break and then split into groups to continue the investigation.
As a group of us sat at the Seance table there was a knock on the table and one investigator picked up on the name Alan who was a small, chubby, jolly man who was laughing as he thought it was funny what we were doing. Whispering was heard on our Sonic ears and a figure was sensed at one end of the table. There were also noises nearby and cold breezes across the table when asked for.
Trigger objects were placed in the tunnels by 2 investigators these included a board with flour sprinkled on it and a number of objects placed on it. A cross and a number of Victorian pennies, which we asked spirit to move while we investigated other parts of the market. On returning to the tunnels later in the evening we found that a couple of the coins seemed to have moved slightly when compared with photographs taken of them earlier in the evening.
One investigator was given a Dictaphone, Digital thermometer and a K2 meter and was taken down into the tunnels where they would sit on their own in complete darkness for a period of 15 mins. There was a night vision camera with a microphone pointed at the investigator and they were encouraged to ask questions and for things to happen to them.
The rest of the investigators were back at the hub watching the Lone Vigil on a monitor.
During the Lone Vigil the investigator had reaction on the K2 meter and felt he was being watched.
Just as the Vigil was coming to an end, the investigator saw what seemed to be a white face at the far end of the tunnel.
A group of investigators were drawn to the arcade area at the top of the market under the glass roof. They tried using a crystal pendulum and we were able to get information about a lady who was local to the area and she appeared to be the same lady who had been interacting with the same group in the tunnels earlier in the night.
When the group asked “Can you say your age into the speaker?” they seem to have got a response.
They then tried a Ouija Board session and had quite a strong reaction to questions.
The lady told them her name was Amanda and she had two sons named Andrew and Adam and she was buried in the graveyard next to St Andrews Church.
The investigators could smell smoke as if something was burning.
When the investigators asked for the lady’s age they seem to have caught a response on the dictaphone.
During our second break of the evening we seem to have captured an EVP as we were all talking among ourselves.
After the break a group went to Alley 1 and had good responses on our K2 meters, we also interacted with a young boy called Johnny who was 14. We then tried Table Tipping and the table moved quite strongly in response to questions.
One group sat on the Balcony area with a Franks Box and a trigger alarm with a teddy bear on it.
Unfortunately on this occasion we did not get anything of significance on the Franks Box and the teddy did not move.
To finish the evening we had an alarm which would sound just like the air-raid siren and wherever we were in the market we made our way down to the tunnels to get a feel for how it must have felt going into the underground tunnels to escape the bombing.
While in the tunnels we tried glass divination and heard shuffling near the table and an investigators leg was touched and the name Maria was picked up on.
We also seem to have caught a high pitched noise on our dictaphone which some investigators picked up on at the time.
Unfortunately at this point it was time to end the investigation as we had run out of time.
Once again we had a good investigation at the Grainger Market.
We had good K2 activity, information on our Ouija Board, reaction on the crystal pendulums and dowsing rods. Investigators being touched and scratched, table tipping and a few EVPs.
We look forward to returning to the Grainger Market in March to continue our investigation of this historic location and explore the underground tunnels for more evidence of paranormal activity.
